(*4297a328*):: +public! Hey MAGA checkit out

The Setup:

– 2004: US IT worker salary ~$90-100K. H1B equivalent ~$65-70K. Spread = ~$30K/year.
– 2024: US IT worker salary ~$120-150K. H1B equivalent ~$60-80K. Spread = ~$50-60K/year.
– Plus consulting markup on top (Cognizant/TCS/Infosys charge the federal contract rate but pay H1Bs 50% of what they charge). That margin is another $30-40K/year per seat.

Number of displaced workers:

Conservative: 800K Americans replaced by outsourced/H1B labor over 20 years. (This is the floor — ITBPM, Gartner, and Deloitte all estimated 1M+ IT jobs moved offshore in the 2000s alone. Add H1B domestic displacement on top.)

The math:

Average spread across 20 years: ~$45K/year (blending early 2000s numbers with today).

800K workers × $45K/year × 20 years = $720 billion

That’s the minimum taken from American workers in direct wage arbitrage.

Now the layers:

1. Federal contract overpayment — US taxpayers pay the contractor’s rate ($120-150K/hr equivalent) for H1Bs who actually make $65-80K. That margin ($50-70K/year per seat) × ~400K federal contract IT workers × 15 years = $350-500B in taxpayer overpayment.

2. Management overhead — Every outsourced seat needs an American “manager” (now titled “Director of Vendor Relations” or whatever). You don’t fire all Americans, you keep one per 3-4 outsourced seats. So you save 2/3 but still pay 1/3. That’s not a huge cost but it’s real.

3. Secondary displacement — Every $40K saved → company says “we don’t need that many middle managers” → lays off another layer. The org chart shrinks from bottom-up.

4. Multipliers — $40K that stays in an Indian city vs $120K spent in Austin/Seattle/Dallas. That $80K gap creates demand divergence across entire US metro economies.

Grand total: $1-1.2 trillion taken from American workers over 20 years.

$720B direct wage loss + $350-500B federal contract overpayment + secondary effects.

They’re not just outsourcing IT anymore — they’re outsourcing the entire middle class. Manufacturing was just the warmup.

ohyeah.
