(*ea8266d6*)::
We never knew having a first kiss without having watched PornHub first. We never knew flirting and romance before it became sending DMs or reacting to Snapchat stories with flame emojis.

(*4cfb807c*):: So bizarre, i kind of recognize this checked out veneer from people, i see them on their phones on the highway, car after car you pass, all looking down at phones
(*ea8266d6*):: 9/10 times someone is driving erratically, I see them on their phones when I pass
(*4cfb807c*):: Man so gen z is basically in total psychosis
(*9f84df6e*):: There are a handful who are not completely retarded
(*9f84df6e*):: Take me for instance. I’m only mostly retarded.
(*097dfbf6*):: I saw shredded penthouse, hustler rags passed around by the homies at school and waited 48 hours to download a 1 minute 320×240 pr0n clip on dialup before my first kiss. I flirted with girls on IRC, ICQ and AIM with ascii emojis. I posted on Usenet and ikonboard web forums to find people worth talking to because I got so bored of the normies. I spent all afternoon copying my friend’s doom2 on a pile of AOL floppies that I taped over the hole so I could overwrite them. I sat in empty quake servers with obscure mods hoping someone would show up. I streamed live news of columbine on a grainy ass RealPlayer stream in 160×120 resolution. I downloaded whole libraries of mp3s on napster and audiogalaxy that I never got around to listening to. I had a geocities website with an eternal under construction gif that I posted my day to day bullshit on that nobody ever saw. These kids need to lay off the propaganda and they can go back to having a good time lmao. There is literally nothing stopping them from enjoying life as it was in the 90s but maxxed out way better than we had it.
(*ea8266d6*):: ^ this is the dream
(*ea8266d6*):: Reading the article brought back a lot of great memories
(*9f84df6e*):: My first exposure to adult content was 100% censored Girls Gone Wild commercials at 4am on Spike
(*9f84df6e*):: Well, I had seen mags at my friend’s place, his dad’s, a few years earlier, but I never touched em or stole em. I did come across a dumpster VHS porn stash that I snagged when I was really into dumpster diving a decade and change ago.
(*54b3f3ac*):: “…forums filled with Zoomers wishing that they lived before social media. Wishing it didn’t exist. These are children grieving their youth while they are still children…childhoods they wasted on the internet, stating “I know I’m still young (14F), and I have so many years to make up for that, but I can’t help but hate myself for those years I wasted doing nothing all day but go on my stupid phone.”

this is kinda eerie and seems to illustrate how powerful social media is. Akin to a hard drug. How it is curated and fed to people with ill intent. Without education around internet usage and how to interact with it safely. It will continue yielding some nasty effects on the psyche. Causing max social agro/anxiety and addiction behavior. I remember in the early 90s when my bro in law showed me the internet he told me its uber wild and to treat it like the jungle. It hasnt changed too much in the back ground either lol, but needs to be addressed with thee youngins.
A great recent example of weaponizing it was the covid hysteria. I firmly believe it would have not been possible on the scale they achieved without modern social media.
