<5547a085> After some reading, I can see why the mini 14 comes so highly recommended by <@U8F8V823B>
<5547a085> The mini 14 comes in 5.56, the mini 30 comes in 7.62
<5547a085> Drum magazines are also available
<5547a085> 5, 20, 30 rnd magazines, and the same <$750 price point im wanting
<21c2e595> U can get anything for them really. Very accersorizable
<21c2e595> Cam u get them for sub 800?
<5547a085> Yeah, I’m seeing some up for auction on gunbroker
<5547a085> The ranch rifle looks to be the best price, the tactical model looks cool
<5547a085> I’m liking the mini 30 range rifle model a lot, the 7.62 seems like a better choice for hunting
<5547a085> I don’t know why im so sheepish on 5.56, its not a pleb round, i respect it of course and its certainly abundant, I just want to leave the door open for medium to large game hunting this coming season with a single rifle purchase
<5547a085> the mini 30 seems to fit the bill very well in all key areas, alternatively im still weighing in on the marlin 336c (30-30) (tube fed, easy to maintain, simple), possibly an AR-10 in .308 (higher maintenance cost, more tactical), even a remington model 700 (.308) (purely hunting oriented, less defensive)
<5547a085> ^ each of these rifles are <$800, very good availability at the moment still
<5547a085> 7.62, .308 and .30-30 ammunition are more likely to remain plentiful because noob bulk/panic buying is geared toward 5.56 and buckshot right now;
<5547a085> 20 million gun background checks in June 2020, record number lol
<5547a085> ^ all these noobs picked up a shotgun and cleared the shelves of buckshot, or got an AR15 and cleared the shelves of 5.56
