(*4cfb807c*):: Back when Ubuntu mailed 6.06 for free to anyone:
(*6952cd93*):: It’s crazy that 64bit PCs have been standard that long. 17 years earlier than ubuntu 6.06, 16bit cpu’s were still common, and windows 3.1 hadn’t even come out yet lol +public!

(*4cfb807c*):: They sent me x86 as well as x86_64, and I wondered huh, did I need x86? But in hindsight it’s totally true, and 6.06 ran on my old windows xp desktop and that’s basically how I 1st learned Linux, and it most def changed my life from then on, I was blown away by the apt package manager and the boatload of free and quality desktop software … OpenOffice, games, stuff I could use at school, and then all the file sharing, web server, et al, and it all came on a single disk for free! And at that time, Microsoft was sold at Best buy with a key for $99 lol
